TIMELY POLICE VISIT LOWER HUTT POST OFFICE P.A. WELLINGTON, Dec. 7. Elaborate preparations to blow open the sjife of the Lower Hutt Post Office were abandoned shortly after 4 o’clock this morning when the building was visited by a police patrol car. Two men were arrested. Constables W. J. Hooker and A. McLean found that the safe door had been packed with gelignite and detonators. A long fuse was apparently on the point of being set off when the police arrived. Entry had been gained through the back door, which was found to have been forced open with a jemmy.
