“PASSED ITS ZENITH”
NO DANGER OF FALLING APART AMERICAN VIEW ON BRITISH EMPIRE WASHINGTON, Dec. 5. The American Army told its troops to-day that the British Empire has “passed its zenith,” but acknowledged that it was in no danger of falling *An army pamphlet entitled “ What is the Future of the British Empire? ” was distributed to commanders for use in informing troops. It is one of a series designed to acquaint American troops with social, political, and military conditions in the world. The pamphlet said: “ Though Britain may be losing strength in Asia and the Mediterranean—and that is far from certain—developments in Africa may be an offsetting factor.” The army reminded its troops that when a band plays “ God Save the King ” one-fourth of the people of the world still stand up.
