SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Otago Senior, Intermediate and Junior Swimming Championships at the Municipal Baths to-morrow night and on Wednesday night are attracting more than the usual amount of interest in view of. the National Championships in Dunedin in February. Some of New Zealand’s most outstanding swimmers will be competing, including Miss Ngaire Lane, the women’s backstroke champion and recordholder; Miss Betty Casey, winner of the three women’s freestyle titles for the past three years; Jack Stewart, the men’s diving champion for the past two years; Miss Mayzod Reid, the women’s diving champion during the same period, and John Jarvis, the brilliant 12-year-old ex-Aucklander, who is the holder of three New Zealand Junior titles. On the first night a water polo match will be played between Probables and Possibles, and on Wednesday night the leading two B Grade teams, Kaikorai and Kiwi, will meet.
