STATE PURCHASE
REEFTON MINE VALUE IN DISPUTE Special, to the Daily Times GREYMOUTH, Dec. 5. The figure to be paid by the State for the properties, assets and licences of the Burke’s Creek Colliery, Reefton, which was recently acquired from a private company to become a State coal mine is the subject of arbitration proceedings at Greymouth. There are many witnesses for both parties, mainly on the question of the mine s value, and presiding at the hearing is Mr J. R. Bartholomew, former S.M., of Dunedin. The proceedings opened on Wednesday and are likely to last for the greater part of next week.
