KING’S RANSOM SCRATCHED Special to the Dally Times CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 5. Several Wingatui trainers are here with, fresh horses for the final day’s racing. A. E. Didham has Foxchase and Special Flight; D. P. Wilson, Frances;/W. E. Hancock, Gold Song; and E. E. Mackie, Duvaals. The South Canterbury horses have not arrived yet. King’s Ransom is under a cloud, his near hock having filled, and he will have to miss the Canterbury Cup. Thimble has received a knock on one of his legs, and as there Is some heat in the joint, he will not be started in the Stonyhurst Handicap. In the absence of rain, Lord Elgin and Deep Harmony are doubtful starters In the Members’ Handicap. Kartlkeya, whose feet are a source of some trouble, will not be at his best for the Canterbury Cup, aind unless rain falls he may be missing. Great Victory has been moving short on the hard ground, and he is not certain to start in the Hagley Handicap. Of the horses engaged in more than one race, It is expected that Howe, Royal Tan and Indian Dawn will miss the Canterbury Cup, to run in the Fendalton Handicap. Glen Cona is booked for the Stonyhurst Handicap, and the Stormovik for the Ashley Handicap. There are indications that Howe is expected to run well in the Fendalton Handicap. Detain has been moving freely In his recent work on the tracks. Renowned seems none the worse for her exertions In the Derby ,and Oaks. Additional riding arrangements have been made as follows:—A.
