GAELIC SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Gaelic Society was held last evening in the Otago Women’s Pioneer Hall, Chief J. Lachlan Thomson being in the chair. The chief welcomed Mr Moody, president of the Scottish Society. Mr and Mrs Peter Dawson. Mr Ferguson. Mr A. Pettitt, Mr McLean and Mr B.uchan. The musical programme was. well received. many of the soloists giving encores. The choir opened the programme with Gaelic songs and the vocalists vvere: Mrs M. Oliver, Misses Evelyn Sutherland. Rutherford, Darracott, G. Russell, p. Littler and Messrs P. Dawson, H. Barkman and Macdougall. Other items were those of Miss D. Glover (fling), Mr A. Pettitt (piano selections), Piper Matheson (bagpipe selection). Master I. Hanna (swords). Misses N. Robinson and P. Reid (Irish reel). Mrs Higgins and Mr A. Pettitt played the accompaniments and Piper Waldie supplied the . music for the national dancers.
