OBITUARY
MR HENRY ARCHIBALD Special to the Daily Times. » OAMARU, Dec. 4. With the death of Mr Henry Archibald at the age of 81 years early yesterday morning, Oamaru has lost another highly esteemed citizen who during his residence in the town had played a full part in the life of . the community. Mr Archibald in his youth came to the Dominion from Scotland, arriving at Dunedin in the ship Nelson in 1884. He commenced work with the locomotive branch of the New Zealand Railways, being stationed in turn at Balclutha, Dunedin, Picton, Palmerston North and Oamaru, where he was locomotive foreman. He retired from active service some years ago. He was of a retiring and kindly nature, but was an enthusiastic worker for any good cause and was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, of which he was a manager. He was a member of the Meadowbank Bowling Club, the Early Settlers’ Association, Endeavour Lodge U.A.O.D. and Lodge Oamaru Kilwinning. He is survived by his widow and two sons—James, of Christchurch, and Thomas, of Dunedin, and two daughters, Mrs G.' Dunn and Miss Annie Archibald, both of Dunedin.
MR CHARLES McINTYRE
P.A. WELLINGTON, Dec. 4The death has occurred of Mr Charles Mclntyre, founder of the New Zealand Natives’ Association and a director of E. Morris, Junior, Ltd., for which firm he directed many prominent funerals, including those of Prime Ministers. He was born m Wellington in 1872. He was a keen bowler.
