SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Otago senior, intermediate, and junior swimming championships will be held at the Municipal Baths °n Tuesday and Wednesday nights and a number of title races will also be held at club hours during the week. The entries are larger than has been the case for several years past, and many outstanding. New Zealand champions will be taking part. They include two triple titleholders in Miss Betty Casey, formerly of Wellington, and the brilliant 12-year-old former Aucklander, John Jarvis, younger brother of the National Medley champion, W. J. Jarvis, who will also be competing. Miss Ngaire Lane who is shortly to undergo her Olympic Backstroke trial, has been showing brilliant form of late and will compete in freestyle as well as backstroke races. Other champion backstroke exponents taking part include T E. W Ison, Miss Jean Stewart, and Miss Myra Wilson. Water polo matches will be played on both nights.
