Nominations for the Gore meeting are due on Monday. The Grattan Loyal mare Navy Queen has been mated with Pacing Power. Winning Trainers A. Holmes is now at the head of the winning trainers’ list with 15 successes. Change of Stables The Maxegin trotter Logan Max has joined R. Young’s stable at Addington. Liberty Bond After a long spell, the Worthy Bond mare Liberty Bond is due to make her reappearance at the New Brighton meeting next week. Roi l’Or Dead The death is reported of Roi l’Or, one of the outstanding pacers of his day. He was 24 years old. He holds the record of 4min 15 2-ssec for the . Auckland Cup. and among his many other successes was the Dunedin Cup of 1930. Consistent Pacer

Worthy Gold will probably have his next race in the Auckland Cup. He was one of the most consistent performers at the Cup meeting, being placed in each of his five starts.

Likely Favourite ‘ Jackie Guy will start from the front mark in the Auckland Cup, and his recent form entitles him to be one of the favourites. His win in the Durham Handicap at the New Zealand Cup meeting, when he recorded 4min 22 3-ssec, was an outstanding performance. He finished brilliantly to head off the Australian pacer Johnnie Lawn. Sea Max, one of the finest square trotters raced in New Zealand in recent years, has returned to Southland, where she will be given a few .more races before being rtired to the stud. Sea Max has already been mated with U. Scott, and present intentions are to produce her against the pacers in the sprint events at the Gore and Winton meetings this month. The Maxegin mare is being trained by her owner, S. Todd, at Invercargill.
