The raising of the demand levels for goods dn highly developed countries called for the equitable redistribution of national wealth, said Mr G. H. Watson (New Zealand) at the meeting of the World Trade Conference Committee on Employment. He said one of the tasks of the returning delegates would be to explain that need in spite of the protests of the privileged members of the community.

Mr H. C. Coombs (Australia) told the committee that the chief responsibility for avoiding another world depression rested with the United States. He said that the mors developed countries, particularly the United States, should take preliminary action to avoid growing unemployment. Mr Coombs warned the committee that the United States economy was itself essentially unstable.
