COMING ATTRACTIONS

EMPIRE THEATRE With Red Skelton starred, laughs long and loud are assured when “ The Showoff ” is screened at the Empire Theatre to-morrow. Although Ma and Pop Fisher, daughter Clara, and her husband, Frank, are made the unhappy victims of Aubrey Piper’s egotism when he is brought home to the family as Amfs husband, it is Amy’s brother, Joe, who suffers the greatest persecution. Joe, an inventor, is about to sell a rust preventive when the interfering Aubrey not only blunders into Joe’s chemical paraphernalia and sets the house on fire, but later visits the prospective buyers of the invention and turns down their offer because he considers it too small. A twist in the plot enables Aubrey to vindicate himself before the family really tear him to pieces.
