RABBIT MENACE
NATIONAL REMEDY NEEDED P.A. WELLINGTON, Dec. 2.
Agreement with tjre view that some national remedy was required to rid the Dominion of its rabbit pest was expressed ,by the Under-secretary of Lands, Mr D. M. Greig, when he gave evidence before the Royal Commission on Sheep Farming. Rabbit boards had been most efficacious agencies so far, said Mr Greig, but in the high country, where rating was difficult, this method of keeping down the rodent menace was hardly satisfactory. “Many people make a lot of money out of rabbits—if the rabbit were decommercialised do you think it would be a step in the right direction? ” asked Mr R. Eddy, M.L.C., a member of the commission. Mr Greig said he could not answer that question on the spot.
