HOTEL GLASSES
LOST AND BROKEN COST OF 17s 6d A DAY INVERCARGILL TRUST’S PROBLEM P.A. INVERCARGILL, Dec. 2. Heavy losses of glasses have been experienced by the Invercargill Licensing Trust during the past four months. The total lost or broken in one hotel in that period has been 172 dozen including 70 dozen lOoz, 70 dozen soz, and more than 30 dozen glasses of other sizes.
The secretary-manager of the trust, Mr E. B. Barnett, said to-day that if glasses kept disappearing and being broken at the rate they had been, the time would come when customers would have to take their own containers to the hotels when they wanted a drink. Glasses were in short supply and replacement was the trust’s main problem. The losses suffered by the trust averaged 17s 6d a day. In future, persons caught stealing glasses would be prosecuted.
