SECRET LANDINGS

PLANES FROM CONTINENT HOARDED JEWELS AND NOTES Rec. 8.30 p.m. LONDON, Dec 1. Planes from the Continent have made secret landing in England with smuggled cargoes of jewels and hoarded pound notes sent out from France and adjoining countries by people—some of them British and American—who are frightened by the spread of Communist-led strikes and riots, says the Daily Express. Already the authorities have seized from foreigners, making for London, diamonds and ’ notes worth over £IOO,OOO, but some of the smugglers are believed to have been more thorough. They include men trained in war-time as underground workers. The police are watching a number of French women who have been making frequent flying visits to London.
