CHEMISTRY INSTITUTE
ANNUAL MEETING OF COUNCIL HONORARY FELLOWSHIP CONFERRED P.A. WELLINGTON, Dec. 1. At the annual meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry, Dr F. P. Worley, emeritus professor of chemistry at the Auckland 'University College, was elected to an honorary fellowship, a distinction which is limited in number to five. Dr Worley was head of the Chemistry Department at the Auckland University College for nearly 30 years and founded the Auckland Chemical Society, also taking a leading part in establishing the institute. Professor F. J. Llewellyn, the recentlyappointed professor of chemistry at the Auckland University College, and Mr N. T. Clare, chief biochemist at Wallaceville, were elected to fellowship of the institute ■ .? . Officers elected for the ensuing year were:—President, Dr J. K. Dixon (Wellington); vice-president, Frofessor J. Packer (Christchurch); secretary and treasurer, Mr W. G. Hughson (Wellington); branch representatives on the council—Auckland, Mr' S. G. Brooker; Wellington, Mr J. L. Mandeno. Canterbury, Mr F. H. G. Johnstone; Otago, Dr S. N. Slater. It was reported at the meeting that during the last three months members of the institute have forwarded food parcels to chemists or their dependents in Britain amounting in all to a value of £44 3s.
