OBITUARY

MR CECIL WALTER WOOD P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 28. The death is reported of Mr Cecil Walter Wood, a well-known architect and the designer of the proposed Wellington Cathedral. He designed a number of Canterbury churches and several of the buildings of Christ’s College, including the Hare Memorial Library and the dining hall erected as a First World War memorial. He was the architect for a number of large Government buildings in Christchurch. He was considered a master of Gothic design. Mr Wood was president of the New Zealand Institute of Architects for a term.
