HEAVY DOWNPOUR

GARDENS DAMAGED AT TAPANUI Special to the Daily Times TAPANUI, Nov. 30. One of the heaviest downpours known to the district was experienced by Tapanui residents early on Sunday morning. Heavy rain fell for about an hour, and daylight showed the channelling through the town to be inadequate. One resident of 20 years’ standing said he had never seen anything like it. As dry conditions have prevailed, however, it is estimated that more good than harm has been done. Only minor damage to private gardens has been reported.
