FIGHT ON FERRY

DETERMINED CONTESTANTS TWO WOMEN ARRESTED P.A. AUCKLAND, Nov. 30. A fight started on the deck of the Devonport Steam Ferry Company’s vessel Muritai while 500 passengers were waiting to disembark at the Matiatia wharf at Waiheke Island this morning. The master, who was about to put up the gangway, promptly restored order with the help of a police constable who was a passenger. The contestants were warned, and all the people were cleared from the wharf, but a second fracas, in which about eight people were involved, started afterwards on the shore end of the wharf. Two young women who were arrested and brought to Auckland in a police launch will be charged in the Magistrate’s Court .
