ABUNDANCE OF FEED
Crops and Stock Looking Well Showers Required The weather has been much drier this week and a good shower would benefit the recentlv-sown crops. Crops and stock are looking well and there is plenty of feed. With the present high prices ruling for the new wool, growers are endeavouring to complete shearing as quickly as possible. Wheat..—The new crops are making satisfactory growth, and the warmer conditions are proving beneficial but, for better yields, showers are required during December. The merchants’ stocks in store are now receiving heavy demands. Oats.—Merchants’ stocks are practically exhausted, and there are no further lines to go forward.' As there are better prices offering for the new croj# and the difficulty of getting large size* sacks, growers will probably decide to thresh their oats. Potatoes.—The season is practically finished and supplies of new potatoes are steadily increasing. Seeds. —There have been odd orders for ryegrass and Montgomery red clover, and only better quality lines are attracting any attention. The entries for certification disclose a reduced area in Montgomery red clover, perennial and Italian ryegass, and cocksfoot, with increased areas for white clover, cowgrass, and short rotation ryegrass. There have been good retail inquiries this week for pasture seeds for sowing with rape. A good rain is now needed to stimulate a further demand.
