UPPER CLUTHA ROADS

Sir,—l consider that it is high time a little publicity was given the roads in Upper Clutha, especially the Hawea Flat main road (if it ern be called a road). Your correspondent gave some worthwhile publicity to the state of these roads last year, after which there was a certain amount of activity on the part of the powers that be. Since then, I regret to say, they have settled back in their old groove again, and things are becoming even worse than they were at, that time. The road is a combination of boulders, potholes and corrugations and is a menace to all types of vehicles. I am, etc., ' Browned Off.
