FIRST BOUT ON MONDAY

BOS MURPHY IN ENGLAND MATCH AGAINST JAMAICAN CHAMPION P.A. WELLINGTON, Nov. 27. Bos Murphy will have his first fight in England against Roy Paterson, the middle-weight champion of Jamaica, at the Albert Hall, London, on December 1. Johnny McKenna, the Hutt Valley professional who accompanied Murphy to England, will appear on the same bill against Billy Carrol, the ring name of a younger brother of the wellknown English heavy-weight. Bruce Woodcock. Both New Zealand boxers are being trained by Jack Solomons, who expects to arrange bouts for them in France and Switzerland. After regular training on the ship, Murphy landed in England weighing 10.9 and McKenna 10.3. Both now weigh 11.3. Murphy’s first fight was originally scheduled against Mark Hart, the southern area middle-weight champion, but the latter has gone to hospital for an operation for a nose injury received while training.

HANSEN KNOCKED OUT PA. NAPIER, Nov. 27. Paddy Slavin (9st 101 b), New South Wales light-weight champion, who was recently engaged by the Napier Boxing Association, knocked out Harry Hansen (lOst 81b), of Wellington, in the fourth round of a professional boxing contest to-night. Slavin took the fight to Hansen, putting him to the mat for counts of seven, four and nine in the first three rounds respectively. Hansen fought back, scoring heavy body blows which steadied Slavin. The four rounds were fought at a fast pace. Hansen rose from his knees after a count of nine in the fourth round, and went into Slavin in a two-fisted barrage. Slavin appeared groggy,_ but when Hansen went in for the kill he stopped the full force of a straight right to the chin and dropped unconscious.
