BIBLE SOCIETY

ANNUAL’MEETING HELD

The Bible Society of Otago and Southland held its annual meeting in the Somerset Lounge, there being a large attendance. Archdeacon W. A. Hamblett presided. A record income was reported, an increase on last year’s figures of over £IOOO being shown. Gift Bibles from Scotland were presented by the president to Mrs C. Wilkinson, of Kaikorai, Mrs M. Browne, of Invercargill, and Mrs A. Findlayson, each of whom had completed at least 25 years as a collector. Archdeacon Hamblett spoke of the work of the society in distributing free gift New Testatments to children passing out of Form II in the schools of Otago and Southland, 2000 having been presented last year. The Rev H. H. Barton outlined a scheme in preparation to launch out in colportage work by caravan throughout the back country of Otago and Southland.
