BURNS CLUB CONCERT

A large attendance of members and friends was welcomed by the president, Mr A. R. Macdonald, at the monthlymeeting and concert of the Dunedin Burns Club in the Concert Chamber on Wednesday evening. Mr D. R. McDiarmid gave an interesting talk on the stories behind the songs of Burns and the songs quoted were featured in the concert programme. Vocal solos were given t>y Miss Edna Thompson, Messrs Lionel Powell, J. Gordon, G. Currie and Keith McKay. Other items contributed were banjoline solo (Mr P. Hay), concertina solo (Mr W. W Holmes), quartettes and Highland dances. The accompanist was Mrs Jean KirkBurnnand and the piper was Mr J. Millar
