FOUND GUILTY

INTENT TO DEFRAUD PA. WELLINGTON, Nov. 26. A jury in the Supreme Court found Charles Eric Holden Hammerton, a journalist, aged 43, guilty of nine charges of obtaining money with intent to defraud. The evidence for the Crown showed that the accused obtained sums of money from business men by representing that he had made preparations to publish a calendar with advertising space available. The calendar was to be known as the “Montgomery Souvenir Calendar” and was to be published at or before the time of Lord Montgomery’s visit to New ZealaMr Justice Cornish remanded the prisoner for sentence.
