PRESENTATION OF EVIDENCE

OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC WELLINGTON, Nov. 26. Members of the public will be afforded full opportunity to give evidence or make representations to the commission which is to be set up to investigate the circumstances of last week’s tragic fire in Christchurch. “ We will make it as wide open as we can,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Parry, to-day. The personnel of the commission will not be announced until later in the week, but it is believed that the chairman will be Sir Michael Myers, who retired last year from the post of Chief Justice. Another member may be the Auckland city engineer, Mr Dickson.
