STREET FATALITY

KNOCKED DOWN BY BUS

While crossing the of Rattray and Maclaggan streets shortly after 7.30 yesterday morning, Archibald Stanaway, an elderly man living at 10 Stafford avenue, Dunedin, was involved in a collision with a City Corporation bus driven by James Gilbert Buchanan. Mr Stanaway, who was employed at Speight’s branch of New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., received head and abdominal injuries, and died shortly after admission to the Dunedin Hospital. An inquest will be opened at 2 p.m’. to-day. A request has been made that any witnesses of the accident or others able to assist should get in touch with the police. *
