USEFUL TRAINING WORK Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 25. This morning’s work at Riccarton was done in pleasant conditions. Most of the galloping was done on the plough, but a few horses went attractively on the trial grass track. Palm Bearer, on the plough, ran a good mile. After three furlongs in 39 3- Zorro joined her and they ran home the last half-mile in 51sec, the full journey taking lmin 42 3-ssec. Fort Silver and Stately Lady were four lengths in front of Vulnerable at the end of an evenly-run mile in lmin 45sec. King’s Ransom and Dark Arrow took lmin 47 4- without being hurried. Sweet Nymph was a neck in front of Lovelorn in their mile, the last six furlongs in lmin 18 4-ssec. Falconbridge ran seven furlongs well in lmin 29 3-ssec, the last half in 52 3-ssec, accompanied over the last six bv Confidence Trick, who was beaten by a length. Soneri was half a length in front of The Cipher in lmin 31sec, the last half-mile in 51 3-ssec. Coral Arc beat Citril by a neck, with Primitive three lengths back at the end of six furlongs in lmin 16sec, a useful effort done at an even pace. Maka Maka beat Leadership bv half a length in lmin 18sec, while Front Page and Mestiza were clear of Deficiency in lmin 18 2-ssec. Fairhome and Mesalliance took lmin 20sec, while Blank Cheque went very easily in lmin 24 4-ssec. Later in the morning Detain drew out to be three lengths in front of Rahine in lmin 17 3-ssec, after Rahine had led for half the journey. Citation went well over five furlongs in lmin 3sec. Ballochbuie beat Double Cross in lmin 4 3-ssec, Ladyship going alone in lmin 4 4-ssec, while Avignon shaded Langham in lmin ssec. Airwyn was a length in front of Skipping over half a mile in 52sec, equalled by Sorry alone. Conclusion was clear of Terminate over three furlongs in 38 2-ssec. Foot Lights ran a good mile on the trial grass, the first half in 48sec and finishing in lmin 42 2-ssec. She is a speedy filly, with very little race experience. Lodestar and Wavelock went a mile and aquarter, the last mile in lmin 48 2-ssec. The remainder of the work on the grass was restricted to half-mile sprints. Idle Jest went well to beat Sky High by six lengths in 48 4-ssec. Musselman and Banshee pleased in 49sec. Celtic Chief and Top Deck followed in 49 4-ssec, while Curtana was half a length in front of Rumba in 51 3-ssec. Cyrano was two lengths in front of Eulogize in 51 3-ssec, with both under a strong hold. The Avvapuni trainer, C. J. Thomson, left for the north last night, with Langue d’Or, Broiefield. Sea Fury, and Nanaakl. while A. Goodman returned to Trentham with the two-vear-old, Air Belle.

T,here was not much life in the sale held yesterday. The Wingatui trainer, J. A. Wilson, bought a yearling colt by Parchment from a sister to Prince Shad for 100 guineas, while the Trentham trainer. R. J. Belcher, paid 130 guineas for a grey colt by Theseus from Infiltrate, by Valkyrian.

The five-year-old gelding, Finalist, has been destroyed, because of a malignant growth on his jaw. He was by Cambria Park and he showed some useful form! The veteran Riccarton trainer, F. Holmes, as been on the sick list for a few days, and he went into hospital yesterday. '
