LONDON WOOL SALES
Murray, Roberts and Co. have received the following cablegram from their London agents:—London sales have opened with a good attendance of buyers. Competition good, and all sections operating freely. Compared with closing rates at Liverpool, greasy Merino, market irregular; wool suitable for Yorkshire, par to 5 per cent, decline; wool suitable for Continent, par to 5 per cent, advance. Scoured Merino advanced 5 per cent. Crossbred (greasy): Fine, market shows no material change. Crossbred (greasy): Coarse to medium advanced 5 to 7£ per cent. Crossbred (scoured), advanced 10 per cent. Slipe crossbred advanced 5 to .10 per cent. The Bank of New Zealand, London, advises: Crossbreds and sliped buying a little more selective. Current quotations for wools of average condition: —Merino: Super, 60/64's, 39d to 42d; ordinary, 35d to 37£d. Halfbreds, 50/56’s, 27d to 31Jd Crossbreds, 50’s, 25d to 28Jd; 48/50’s, 22£d to 25d; 46/48’s, 21Jd to 24d; 44/46’s, 21d to 23d.
