CARISBROOK BEATEN

STEADY ATTACK BY GRANGE Grange defeated Carisbrook by 84 runs on the first innings in the match at Carisbrook. Although the wicket was in perfect condition and the outfield was fast, Carisbrook was fighting for runs against a steady attack. Playing the bowling with a polished freedom, A. R. Knight compiled 98 for Carisbrook, including eight 4’s. He showed glimpses of the form which won him recognition as one of Otago’s best batsmen. Bowling for Grange, T. A. Freeman took six wickets for 48, five of which were secured after the tea interval at a cost of eight runs. Grange dismissed its opponents shortly after 4 p.m. Scores:—
