INTERESTING MATCH
WIN FOR UNIVERSITY University scored a five-point win in the match against Albion-Y.M.C.A. at the University Oval. In reply to University’s first innings’ total of 205, Albion was disposed of for 143, L. Watson batting soundly on the second day for 29. The feature of University’s second innings was a bright partnership by R. T. Hunt and.D. S. Coombs, which added 57 for the fourth wicket. Hunt gave another polished, exhibition for 48, hitting six 4’s, and Coombs’s 30 not out included four 4’s. R. Robinson took three for 40 with his slow spinners. Declaring with four wickets down for 114, University left Albion 176 runs to get in 67 minutes, and, largely due to an exhilarating partnership between E. Watson and L. D. Smith, Albion had 135 runs on the board for the loss of two wickets at stumps. These batsmen added 107 in- 49 minutes, Smith’s score' of 67 not out including five 4’s and two 6’s, while Watson hit five 4’s in making 40 not out.
