DESTROYED BY FIRE
CHILDREN’S HOME NEAR NAPIER
P.A. NAPIER, Nov. 23. A children’s home in Francis road, Greenmeadows, three miles from Napier, was destroyed by fire during the absence of the matron and children at 3 o’clock this afternoon. There were no casualties. The eight-roomed residence was closed at the time. The fire, which had been smouldering inside, suddenly burst out, threatening an ‘adjoining house. The brigade was unable to save the tyuilding because of the delay in being called and also the distance .from the house to the hydrants. . The brigade successfully concentrated its attention on the adjoining house.
