MIDWISE’S KIRKHAM STAKES Rec. 9.30 p.m. SYDNEY Nov. 23. In torrential rain at Randwick, the crack filly, Midwise, carried a 101 b penalty and won the Kirkham Stakes. The five horses in the race were visible only over the last two furlongs and the jockeys described the race as the worst they had experienced. After the race, the placed jockeys weighed in over 71b over weight, due to mud and water. Results:— Kirkham Stakes.—Midwise, 8.10 (Cook), 1; Simpkin, 8.7 (Munro), 2; Grey Nurse, 8.0 (Mullane), 3. Five started. Half a length, a head. Time, lmin ljsec. Warwick November Handicap.—Courier, 8.2 (Karrigan). 1: New Cashmere, 7.10 (McGrowdie), 2; Cape Neddick, 7.11 (Cook), 3. Six started. Half a length, three lengths. Time, 2min 39isec.
