Argumentative was first past the post, a neck in front of Mercian Lad, but the placings were reversed following an inquiry, it being held that Argumentative had crossed over in front of Mercian Lad in the straight. The rider of Argumentative was suspended for a month. The third horse was half a length away from Mercian Lad. Sheilwyn was fourth. Time, lmin 54sec.
