New Hat Design Defies Blizzards

Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 22. Mr W. D. Jeffries, managing director of a London manufacturing firm, has permission to spend £4OO on four weeks’ stay in the United States to sell Americans a British invention, namely, a hat that will not blow off. “ Special clastic yarn is woven into the crown, brim, lining and trimmings of the hat, which means that a woman can wear it in a blizzard and it will stay on the top of her head,” Mr Jeffries said last night. He is taking 20 models with him. The usual allowance for business trips to the United States, is £lO, but a Treasury official said: “We hope this visit will yield good dividends.”
