DEATH FOLLOWS ACCIDENT

NEW ZEALANDER IN BRITAIN REHABILITATION official N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent LONDON, Nov. 21. The death occurred early this morning, following an accident at his home near Pinner the previous evening, of Mi Solomon Netheim Ziman. Mr Zimap slipped when descending a stairway at his home, and suffered abrasions and concussion, but it was not at first thought his injuries were serious. Later on Thursday, however, he complained of feeling unwell, and was takfen to hospital, where it was feuhd he had developed a haemorrhage of the brain. He became unconscious, and did not recover. Since November. 1946, Mr Ziman had filled the position of rehabilitation officer at New Zealand House, where he had done outstanding work in dealing with the requirements of returned servicemen bursary holders in . the United Kingdom. He was official representative in Britain of the University of New Zealand

Mr Ziman was born in Wellington in 1886. He was educated at the Auckland Grammar School. Auckland University College. Balliol College. Oxford, and later at Gonville and Caius Colleges. Cambridge. He held the degrees of M.Sc (Auckland) and M.A. of both Oxford and Cambridge Universities. : ~ . . . . Mr Ziman had had a distinguished career in the civil service in India where he was successively magistrate and district officer, deputy director of industries. Bombay, deputy secretary to the Government of Bombay and officiating secretary to the Government of Bombay. -He served *on the NorthWest Frontier during 1916-19 and retired on pension in 1925 - Mr Ziman was a member of the Senate of the University of New Zealand In 1922 he married M'ss Nellie. Gaster. daughter of Dr A Gaster, of London There were three sons and one daughter of the marriage
