Health of Couple Proposed by King
LONDON, Nov. 20. The bridegroom, the bride, the King, the Queen, Queen Mary, and the wedding party were photographed and filmed for newsreels in the Throne Room before the wedding breakfast, which was held in the white and gold supper room. One hundred and fifty guests had a three-course meal. The King proposed the toast of the bride and bridegroom. Five kings and six queens were among the guests at the royal wedding breakfast who drank the couple's health in champagne and ate pieces of the huge wedding cake. The bridegroom and bride cut the cake with the bridegroom’s sword. .The crowd, for the second time, interrupted the wedding breakfast, chanting: “ We want the bride again.” The palace windows opened at 3.30 p.m. and Princess Elizabeth, still in her wedding gown, stepped out with Prince Philip. The eight bridesmaids and the best man followed them. Princess Elizabeth waved, then went to change into her going-away costume. Prince Philip’s three sisters, Princess Margarita of Hopenlo-Langenburg, Princess Theodora Markgraefin, of Baden, and Princess Sophie, of Hanover, listened together at Marienburg Castle to the wedding broadcast. They celebrated the wedding with their families at the castle to-night. They sent Prince Philip a joint wedding present of a gold fountain pen with their names engraved on it.
