STATE-OWNED TRANSPORT GOVERNMENT’S TEMPORARY WITHDRAWAL HOBART, Nov. 21. The Tasmanian Government has capitulated for the time being in its fight with the Legislative Council over the State-owned transport services. The clash reached its climax when the council deleted an item of £367,000 for transport in the Public Works Extension Bill. A conference of both Houses followed, .and an agreement was reached after the Government had given an undertaking to bring in a road transport Bill in February, and not tb extend its present road services until that time. The issue, which amounted to refusal of supply for a specific purpose, could have led to a general election, but, probably because of the feeling over the Federal banking legislation, the Government chose the less decisive course.
