MINISTER INDUCTED
THE REV. 0. T. BARAGWANATH ANDERSON’S BAY CHARGE The ceremony of inducting the Rev. O. T. Baragwanath as minister of the Anderson’s Bay Presbyterian Church was attended last night by members of presbytery and the congregation, over whom the moderator, the Rev. R. S. Watson, presided. Mr Baragwanath formerly associate minister at Knox Church, accepted the call of the congregation to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of the Rev. J. Newlands in August. The service commenced with prayer and Scripture reading by the moderator, and the Rev. C. McCaskill preached the sermon. The Rev. W. A. Stevely then outlined the circumstances and procedure leading to Mr Baragwanath’s acceptance of the congregational call. He paid a tribute to the fine record of the previous minister, Mr Newlands, and advised that the presbytery had passed a motion of deep appreciation. The incoming minister made his vows before the moderator, and signed the formula, which was delivered by the clerk of the presbytery, the Rev. A. M. Elliffe. The formal induction by the moderator was then performed. Dr John Henderson delivered the charge to Mr Baragwanath, exhorting him to ” feed the hungry with the bread of life,” and laying down the principles of the ministry. He also urged the congregation to support the pulpit by prayer. At the conclusion of the service Mr Baragwanath was introduced to members of the congregation by the session clerk of the Anderson’s Bay Church, Mr T. Somerville. A formal reception to the newly-inducted minister and Mrs Baragwanath will be tendered later.
