V.A.D. CONCERT

AN OUTSTANDING COMEDY Many talented performers contributed to the outstanding success of the Red Cross Voluntary Aid concert which attracted a full house to the Club Hall on Tuesday night. One of the most popular items was the V.A.D. play, “ From Five to Five-thirty. This sprightly comedy by Phillip Johnson had an all-feminine cast, but its adroitness made an appeal to all sections of the audience. Those who took pari were Misses Helen Price, Joy Whittingion, Hazel Hobbs, Freda Duckworth, ana Elizabeth Armstrong.. Mrs Grace Douglas was the. producer and Mr Kay Wynne stage manager. Miss Lily Stevens s pupils were seen in a sequence of ballet numbers, all of which were invested with artistry and charm. Mr Geoffrey de Latour presented three negro spirituals, and was deservedly encored, and Miss Valda McCracken was equally well received. The V A.D. Choir, conducted by Mr James Clark, and the Technical College Choir, which supplied the incidental music, had a share in the honours of the evening. A humorous sketch by Kay Mutimer proved highly diverting. The accompanists were Mrs Kirk-Burnnand and Misses G. Frazer, Joy Stewart, and Ruby White.
