FAT CATTLE LOWER P.A. INVERCARGILL, Nov. 18. Prices were good at Lorneville for most classes of sheep to-day, but values declined for fat cattle. There was a small entry of fat sheep, being about one-third wethers and the balance ewes. Best ewes were firmer by 3s to 4s a head while aged and medium quality sorts improved by Is 6d to 2s a head. Quotations: —Heavy woolly wethers, to 75s 6d; medium-weight, 64s to 635: lighter 57s 6d to 60s; good quality heavyweight shorn ewes, 60s to 655; medium. 54s to 57s fid; light-weights, 48s to 525. Good quality woolly maiden ewes, 60s to 655; good quality butchers’ ewes, 45s to 50s; medium sorts, 36s to 40 s; shorn maiden ewes, to 575; lighter weights, 45s to 50s; good quality butchers’ ewes, 32s to 37s 6d; medium, 25s to 28s; inferior, 19s to 22s 6d. There was a large yarding of fat cattle which included a number of good quality cattle of all classes, and a large number of aged and inferior cows. Values in some cases were easier to an extent of £2 a head. Quotations:— Heavy-weight bullocks, to £3O ss; good quality medium-weights, £25 to £27, handy-weights, £2l to £22 10s; lighter weights. £lB to £2O; /good quality medium-weight cows, to £2l; medium quality sorts, £l6 10s to £18: inferior. £lO 10s to £l2 10s; mediumweight heifers, £2l to £23 10s; lightweights, £l6 10s to £lB 10s; small, £l2 10s to £l4.
