WAIAREKA SALE
SHEEP PRICES HIGHER Special to the Daily Times OAMARU, Nov. 18. There was a large yarding of fat cattle at to-day's Waiareka sale, with the market ' easier for light and unfinished sorts to an extent of £1 to 30s a' head and for prime sorts from 10s to £1 a head. There was a medium yarding of fat sheep, prices for prime wethers rising from 5s to 6s a head on recent rates, with aged sheep firm on late rates, Maiden ewes were 3s to 4s a head better and fat ewes 6d to Is. There was a small yarding of store sheep and store cattle, with a firm market for all sorts. A small yarding of pigs met with a dull sale. Quotations: —
Fat Cattle.—Bullocks—Extra prime £25 10s to £2B ss, prime £22 to £24, medium £l9 to £2l, light £l7 15s to £18; heifers—prime £l9 5s to £2l, medium £l6 to £lB 10s, light £l4 to £ls; cows—prime £l7 5s to £lB 10s, medium £l4 to £l6 15s, light £ll 10s to £l2 10s. Fat Sheep.—Wethers: Woolly—Extra prime 80s to 82s, prime 66s to 725; shornprime 58s 6d to 61s, medium 54s to 57s 6d, light 40s to 465. Ewes: Maiden woolly— Prime 56s to 595, medium 48s to 525; shorn—prime 47s to 545, medium 43s 6d to 45s 6d, right 40s to 425. Ewes: WoollyPrime 39s to 435, medium 36s to 38s, light 33s to 355; shorn—prime 31s to 335, medium 24s to 265, light 20s to 235. Store Sheep.—A pen of aged ewes and lambs brought 23s 6d. Store Cattle.—Yearling empty heifers made £8 10s to £9 ss.
Dairy Cattle—Heifers in calf, £lO to £l2 12s; cows, £lO to £ll. Pigs made 30s to 40s.
