THE MISSING
FIRST COUNT FORTY-TWO NAMES P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 18. Forty-two persons were reported missing to the police after the fire. This figure included 28 persons whose unidentified bodies were removed from the building and one woman who died of injuries in hospital. Thirty-seven names were on the list of employees supplied to the police by the firm, and three other persons were reported missing by friends or relatives. Two auditors who were in the building at the time of the fire were also -reported missing, and four other persons were described as “doubtful,” as they may not have heard the radio call to reporl at the barracks. Eileen Gillard, 273 Amargh street, credit office. Mary Forde, 75 Montreal street, credit office. Gerald Hampson, 35 Sales road, credit office. Marie Hampson, 35 Sales road, credit office. Edwin A. Brown, 17 Elgin street, credit office. Agnes Ferriter, 862 Colombo street credit office. Ruth Lillian Bradbury, 7 Ashgrove terrace, clerical department. Muriel Serra, 11 Tilford street, credit department. Helen Hamilton, 24 Ayr street, credit department. Nellie Christensen, 27 Chapel street. Alan Lawson, 41 Bishop street, credi' office. Ella Baker, Colombo street, dressmaking department. Dawn Fahey, 116 Peterborough street. Four women, one from the underclothing department, were on the list described as “doubtful.”
