EXAMINATION QUESTION “SPELLING” ON WATERFRONT P.A. WELLINGTON, Nov. 17. The Wellington Watersiders’ Union states that so far as it is concerned the trouble over a question in an examination paper at the Hutt Valley High School has been agreeably'settled.
Mr K. A. Napier, union secretary, said the subject had been discussed with the school authorities, and the union was satisfied that there was no ulterior motive behind the examination question inviting pupils to write an exposure of the evils of the spelling system “as practised by the New Zealand waterside workers.”
Mr Napier said it was considered that the submission of such a question had only been thoughtless, and the union was happy to know that there was no intention of hitting at it. Consequently, it had no interest in pursuing an affair which had ended amicably.
