FIRE IN POWER BOARD’S STORE P.A. ASHBURTON, Nov. 17. “There are some rather suspicious circumstances which I have asked the police to investigate," stated the engineer-secretary, Mr H. G. Kemp, in reporting at to-day’s meeting of the Ashburton Power Board on details of a fire in the board’s main store on November 8. The damage , was previously estimated at £IO,OOO. Mr Kemp explained that it appeared that the fire was caused by the spontaneous combustion of linseed, oil and waste, which had been in use the evening before the fire.
