P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 17. Trams in Christchurch will be abolished and a gradual change made to a combined system of trolley buses and motor buses under the terms of a decision made to-day by the Christchurch Tramway Board. The cost of reorganisation, which includes several new buildings and the restoration of road s'urfaces, is estimated at £1,346,915, of which £1,033,600 will be used to buy vehicles. Motor buses will be used on all existing tram routes except the one from Papanui to the Cashmere Hills, which will have trolley buses. The trolley buses at present used on the North Beach service will continue to operate.
