NORTH ISLAND STEWARDS’ CANDIDATES Special to the Ddily Times
CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 17. Several fresh North Island horses have ai rived at Riccarton and were on the track this morning, including Beau le Havre Howe, Renowned, Distinction and the two-year-olds Skipping, Rumba and curtana. . , S Barr expects to start two ot his team in 'the Stewards’ Handicap with G_ G. Hampton on Mysterious Melody and RG Bradshaw on John'Gay. H Nurse will not nave any ot his team racing on Saturday. He made engagements for Lord Advocate and Tranbycroft on later days, but they have been laid aside with colds, so the stable may not be represented at the meeting. The Crofter, who was injured in his race at Ashburton early in the season, is on the retired list, and J. S. Shaw will not take him m hand for some time. A two-year-old filly that J. A. Cox is working for Mr A. R. McKenzie is by Airway from Hinerawe, toy Robespierre from Oratrix. She will not be racing till after Christmas. An Otago owner is negotiating with Mr H. D Greenwood for the purchase of Thornbridge, a five-year-old gelding by Foxbridge—Rose Latour.
