LADIES’ BRASS BAND

ENJOYABLE CONCERT AT GARDENS A very large crowd was present at the Gardens yesterday to hear the Ladies’ Brass Band under the conductorship of Mr Hilmer Davie. The band was in excellent form. The overture “ Lonely Mill,” and the selection “A Musical Souvenir ’ were outstanding. All the items met with enthusiastic applause. The winners of the duets at Gore last week, Misses Moyra Meenan and Eileen Keenan, played their duet. “The Swiss Boy,” which met with a fine reception. Miss Joan Maxwell was at the piano. One of the features of the band, the novelty drumming, was also well received. Miss Helen Dalgety, soprano, was heard in vocal numbers, which were highly appreciated. Mrs Jean Kirk-Burnnand was the accompanist.
