MATCH AGAINST SOUTHLAND

PROVINCIAL GOLF

The weather was fine and the St. Clair links were in excellent order yesterday Tor the interprovincial golf match between Otago and Southland, which resulted in a handsome win for the stronger home side. Otago was successful in seven of the eight foursomes played in the morning, and in the afternoon’s singles the Southland players won two and drew two out of 16 games. Otago top pair, A. Gibbs and B. V. Wright, had a battle with J. S. Lindsay (the present Southland champion) and L. J. Domigan, to finish with the scores all square. ' J. A. Scouler and C. B. Wight did the first nine holes in two under par figures to beat E. O. Heney and C. A. Masters by a good margin. The singles provided no surprises, T. B. Ferguson (Otago) going down to B. MehafTey (Southland) 3 and' 1, and H. Aitken (Otago) losing to J. R. Mills (Southland) 2 down. The event was held under the auspices of the Otago and Southland Provincial Golf Associations.
