KAIKORAI'S COLLAPSE
OLD BOYS IN STRONG POSITION Kaikorai made a good start in the match against High School Old Boys at Logan Park, but after the fall of the second wicket with 81 runs on the board, * a “ rot ” set in, and the side was out before the tea adjournment for a total of 112 runs. L. Watt, who watched the ball closely, gave a confident display for 40 and E. Rennicl? also batted well for 23. L J. Groves was primarily responsible for Kaikorai’s collapse, and in an inspired spell the Old Boys bowler secured eight wickets for 37 runs, narrowly missing the “ hat-trick ” on three occasions, on one of which he took three wickets in four balls. Groves exploited the wind and used his “ wrong ’un ” skilfully, six of his victims being clean bowled. Although he gave three chances in scoring 98 not out, for Old Boys, A. W. Roberts played an aggressive knock, and many of his runs came from powerful cover drives. He hit 13 4’s and at stumps was associated with the colt C. G. Graham, who had scored 18 not ’out, Old Boys having lost five wickets for 166 runs. Scores:— Kaikorai First Innings L. West, b Couper •• L. Watt, b Groves 9 ™ E. Rennick, lbw, b Leader G.
