Second Series Commenced

EXCELLENT BOWLING BY L. J. GROVES

The features of the second series of matches in the Otago Cricket Association’s senior competition, commenced on Saturday, were the bowling of L. J. Groves and the batting of A. W. Roberts for High School Old Boys against Kaikorai at Logan Park. Groves bowled excellently and with his slow spinners took eight wickets for 37 runs. Roberts gave a forceful exhibition of batting, and scored 98, not out, out of his side’s total of 166 for five wickets. Several other good batting performances were recorded, most notable' among them being C. Elmes’s display of 84 for Grange against Carisbrook. The matches were played in favourable conditions, qnd the wickets were in first-class order.
